FAKE COMP

A SORT OF OPTICAL COMPRESSOR-GATE WITH SIDECHAIN
I've always wanted to have an analog compressor with sidechain unit, but, from what I've found, only rack units or very expensive pedals have the sidechain option

Damn.

I've abandoned this idea for years, until recently I saw a demo of a quasi cheap new pedal that had this function (quasi=nonsense price).
So I thought: "Mumble, actually I don't care much about a serious compression, I just want the sidechain: something that lowers a signal volume according to another signal's volume."
And BAM, I thought that this could be done with very few components!
So, basically this thing (runs optimally with 12v - also suitable for eurorack systems) has (from the top):
-sidechain input
-sensitivity knob
-a switch for attack/release speed: slow-fast (it basically switches between two capacitors)
-two inputs
-two outputs

How it works?
You plug the sidechain source in the sidechain input. The led will blink following the input signal intensity.
In the inside, there's another led couple with a photoresistor (LDR). This photoresistor acts as a volume control for the lower inputs. In compressor mode, the brighter the led, the lower is the output. In gate mode, the brighter the led, the higer the output.
If you plug the same source (via split cable) to the sidechain input and the lowe inputs, it acts as a regular compressor-gate (i know, right now is still in developement, i will put a switch that does this thing internally).

While I was testing (and recording) it, It happened that I made a track. And you can hear it in the video posted here.
All the drums and bass sounds were compressed using this thing.
